Sod vs. Seed - The Benefits Of Turf grass over Hydro-Seeding

There are a plethora of reasons to choose turf grass over hydro-seeding.

The first is that it takes far less time to establish a turf grass lawn than it does a hydro-seeded lawn and you can install your sod anytime the ground is not frozen. Although you can also seed at this time, the results of the growth of your seed will vary depending on the time of year and the weather.

Another few benefits of using turf instead of seed is that your lawn will be plush and thick right away and sod is virtually erosion free. No need to reseed after a heavy downpour where you find all your seed has washed away.

Turf grass is also weed free whereas seeding often results in the growth of not only the seed but the weeds as well. Sod also requires less water to establish because it acts like a sponge and will take a while to dry out, whereas seed with wood or paper fiber will dry out quickly therefore requiring more water.

Sod add value to a home once it is installed. A beautiful lawn will increase the property resale value.

With sod you also get to see what it is you are getting before you buy it. With hydro-seeding you have to wait to see the results and hope it turns out as you envisioned it.
